Book Review – Fate and Foutune

Hello, wonderlandians. I hope you guys are having a fantastic Thursday and you guys are getting ready to weekend soon. I know my weekend is going to be sane. I have a party for my grandmother and then I am doing a photoshoot for something your photos for my mom’s a friend. So today we have a book to talk about.

You guys know how I like to talk about the cover first. This cover one I first looked at it I didn’t quite understand. But this cover like 100% fits this story to 18. I like the fact that there’s a lot of gray tones within the cover. I honestly think while it’s a cover that I have seen before it’s a little bit different.

Fate and Fortune

by Julia Sherman

Genre: Adult Paranormal Thriller

Release Date: January 27th 2018

Summary:

June 6, 2014 was a beautiful sunny day until two gunmen, wearing black masks, ran into a local coffee shop in the middle of the day and took people hostage. As the police burst through the door, the two men killed each other but not before they began shooting people one by one. The shooters thought that they were possessed by the Devil, and the Devil was ordering them to carry out his plan.

Two years later, after the news of the shooting became a distant memory for most, four different people from four different walks of life suddenly meet the same lady, who starts to impact their lives in unexpected and mysterious ways. But, just as they set out to discover who she really is, and what it is that she wants from them; they find themselves stuck in a life-and-death struggle as the mystery unfolds, and suddenly nothing seems sure anymore.

REVIEW

First off I want to say thank you to YA Bound Book Tours for sending me this book and letting me be a part of this awesome tour.  So this book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review and as well as know that is how I always give my reviews so Let’s go.

This book is a very interesting read and it really made me think about life in general. No, I don’t want to give away too much of this book because every chapter kind of unravels the mystery of these for strangers that we meet. Our four main characters are Liam, Alex, Erica and, Charlie. Now all  4 of our characters are somehow Interconnected. Liam, Alex, and Erica are the ones where we get to see their perspective and how this fateful event had changed their lives. The ones that I say that we have the most interaction or Erica and Charlie. Erica is a doctor and she is currently treating Charlie who happens to be in a coma. So when we do get to Charlie’s chapters it is very interesting because it’s told in a way where she’s in the coma she can hear everything that’s going around her but she’s unable to interact.

I honestly think the author Had a really good idea when it came to this story. How can meeting one stranger bring on events 2 years later after a very tragic accident happens. How does fate and luck really play into our lives? And I found that while I’m reading this book I am really thinking about things that I’ve done in my life and what events have brought me to where I am. Then it gets me thinking about the flip side of what if I chose a different path would my life have turned out differently.  these are questions that everyone everywhere really tends to start asking.

I am on page 86 of this book now and I have to say I think this book is a semi-horror book. There is an element to it that I am kind of freaked out. It’s like 8:30 at night and I am genuinely a little freaked out to be in my apartment by myself. I think to Play the huge part in this book. Once you read it you will understand how he plays a role. I don’t think I will be able to sleep tonight. I really thoroughly enjoying this read it super fun it’s a quick read. I typically have been turning my books into audiobooks. So one of the features that I really like about the iPad is the fact that I can highlight something and I can have it read it to me. So I have essentially sped up the robotic voice up to about double times speed which is what I listen to my audiobook to and it’s great I am really liking it. I will update you later.

Alrighty, so I have officially finished the book. I am thoroughly creeped out and I will probably not really be able to sleep tonight. It has been awhile since I’ve read a book like that. This book ends on Such a cliffhanger. if there is not going to be another book  I am going to be so mad. I am thoroughly intrigued and I need to know more like they really need to be more. All of this stuff happens and oh my God my mind is blown. I have never read a book that has weaved together four different perspectives So well. I honestly don’t know what to do with myself and I honestly don’t know what to read next I honestly have a feeling good book until I know if there’s going to be a sequel. It’s going to put me into a little bit of a mini reading slump. This book was fantastic and I recommend it to everybody. I’m really sorry that this review is all over the place but honestly, my thoughts are all over the place and I was reviewing this book as I was reading it. The seems to be the style that I’ve been kind of choosing to go with lately. You guys get my reactions as I’m reading the book. So definitely go pick up this book it was really good.

  1. Horror is hard for me to read because I’m very visual like you and creepy things stick in my brain too much.

  2. The girl on the cover looks so intimidating. The rest of the book sounds a bit too thrilling for me. But I enjoyed reading your review.

  3. I’m not big into horror, but I am enjoying the more thrilling or speculative fiction that has been releasing. I want to check it out to see if it falls into my tolerance level – as it sounds interesting.
